The hunt for Carl Vinson

This just in from the Daily News:

In addition to the U.S.S. Carl Vinson strike group, which had already been directed toward the area, the Pentagon has sent the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan and the U.S.S. Nimitz toward the Sea of Japan as part of a larger show of force following North Korea’s missile tests.

Movement of the carriers was reported by South Korean news agency Yonhap.

Egad!  And The Hill reports:

China and Russia have launched intelligence-gathering vessels to follow the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier as it travels toward the Korean Peninsula, multiple Japenese (sic) government sources told The Yomiuri Shimbun, as reported by The Associated Press.  (This link was provided by The Hill and it actually takes you to The Salt Lake Tribune)

My god!  World War III is upon us!  Three U.S. aircraft carrier armadas streaking toward the Korean Peninsula with the Chinese and Russians in hot pursuit!

Won’t the Chinese and Ruskies be surprised to find out that the Carl Vinson is nowhere near North Korea and the other carriers are in dry dock (Breitbart, Los Angeles Times, White House Patch, Washington Post, DefenseNews, and Stars & Stripes)?  Oops!

Maybe it’s all just for fun.  Maria Bartiromo asked President Trump about his Korea-bound armada reference.  “You redirected Navy ships to go toward the Korean Peninsula. What are we doing right now in terms of North Korea?”  Trump pointed out, “You never know, do you? You never know.”

Well, maybe that’s what we’re all in for for the next four years.  We’ll just never know.
